Can I Get a Refund or Withdraw My Account Credit?
We often get asked about getting money back, whether that's a refund on a new service, a payout of leftover account balance, or credit for an outage. The answer depends on which of these you're asking about, so this page covers each case. In short, refunds go back to your original payment method only under the 7-day money-back guarantee. In every other case, unused value stays on your account as credit for future DartNode services.
Quick reference
| Situation | What you get |
|---|---|
| New service canceled within its first 7 days | Full refund under the 7-day money-back guarantee, once per account. Crypto payments are refunded as account credit. |
| Virtual service canceled immediately, after 7 days | Prorated credit for the unused part of the month, added to your account balance |
| Any service canceled at end of cycle | No credit. The service runs until the paid period ends. |
| Leftover account balance (credit) | Usable on any DartNode service. It can't be paid out as cash. |
| Proration credit from signing up mid-month | Applied automatically to your next invoice |
Can I withdraw my account credit?
No. Account credit can't be paid out, transferred to a bank account or card, or sent to a crypto wallet. This applies however the credit was created: added funds, proration, refunds of crypto payments, gift cards, or promotions. Credit stays on your account and applies automatically to renewals, new services, upgrades, and add-ons.
If you're leaving DartNode, the best way to use remaining credit is to let it cover your final renewals before you cancel.
Why credit instead of cash?
DartNode bills every service on the calendar month and charges the full month upfront with an automatic proration credit, as explained in How Billing Works. That keeps provisioning instant and accounting clean. Credits are how the system settles the difference, and they're part of the terms you agree to when you add funds.
Requesting a 7-day money-back refund
- Open a ticket to Accounting within 7 days of the service's start date.
- Select the service and briefly say why you're canceling. This helps us improve, and it won't affect your refund.
- We'll cancel the service and process the refund to the original payment method. If you paid in crypto, the refund goes to your account balance.
The guarantee can be used once per account. Back up any data first, because the service is destroyed when it's canceled.
What about outages? (SLA credits)
If your service was affected by an outage on our side, open a ticket to Accounting with the service ID and the times you were affected. Eligible downtime is credited to your account balance, not refunded to your card.
Please talk to us before filing a chargeback
If something has gone wrong with a charge, open a ticket first. Most billing problems, such as a duplicate charge, a payment that didn't post to an invoice, or a service that didn't provision, are fixed faster through support than through your bank. A chargeback locks the account while it's investigated, which blocks changes and cancellations until it's resolved.
